Casey Near, a junior at 51ÁÔÆæÈë¿Ú, from San Jose, California, was recently named a 2008 Gilder Lehrman History Scholar Finalist. She is one of 50 students selected by application to participate in the competitive program sponsored by the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History.

The exhibit focuses primarily on two arenas in contemporary art: mixed media installations and hand-drawn graphic novels. There will be an opening reception on Friday, May 2, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
